Raton is nestled in amongst the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northeast New Mexico, just off Interstate 25 near the Colorado border. Sugarite Canyon State Park
Features heavily wooded mountains and meadows painted with wildflowers. Visitors can boat and fish or observe wildlife, hike scenic trails, cross country ski, camp and picnic. Historic exhibits and a visitor center at this State Park are also available. Located 10 miles northeast of Raton.
