Clovis was incorporated in 1909 as a farm and ranch area located on the high plains of eastern New Mexico. Near the city is the Cannon Air Force Base, home of the F-16. Throughout the year, Clovis plays host to many annual events and activities. One of the most famous attractions in Clovis is the Norman and Vi Petty Studios where the late Buddy Holly once recorded.
